Marci L. Bowers, MD, is a recognized authority in the field of gender reassignment surgery. Performing more than 220 gender-related surgeries a year, she specializes in helping patients realize their dreams of elegant, feminine body contours. Dr. Bowers’ extensive background in gynecology provides her with a unique perspective when performing intricate male-to-female procedures, such as vaginoplasty.
Dr. Bowers earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota, where she served as President of her Class and the Medical Student Council. She completed a residency in obstetrics gynecology at the University of Washington, where her skill and commitment were recognized when she received the Chief Resident Award for Teaching Excellence. Over the course of her career, Dr. Bowers has earned numerous other awards and recognitions, including the selection by the Consumers' Research Council of America as one of "America’s Best Physicians." Dr. Bowers has also been invited to share her vast experience on many television programs such as the Oprah Winfrey Show, and has even made a brief cameo on an episode of CSI: Las Vegas.
After a long, successful career in obstetrics gynecology, Dr. Bowers moved into the field of gender reassignment surgery. This transition was a natural outcome of her passion for helping patients achieve a complete harmony between their inner and outer selves. As a vegetarian and alternative medicine expert, Dr. Bowers practices a holistic approach to health and beauty. Recognizing the important role physical appearance and health plays in one’s self-confidence and happiness, she strives to provide patients with inclusive treatments that allow them to thrive as truly beautiful, content individuals.
Dr. Bowers currently leads the Gender Reassignment Surgery Department in Trinidad, Colorado . She was selected for this position by the famed authority in the field, Dr. Stanley Biber. Dr. Bowers in also on staff at the Swedish Hospital Medical Center, Mount San Rafael Hospital and Rose Medical Center. In addition, she is actively involved in many organizations dedicated to advancing the field of gender reassignment surgery, such as the World Professional Association for Transgendered Health. Dr. Bowers has also been selected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Ingersoll Gender Center.
