Fat Grafting to the Buttocks
The most extreme sign of change comes, as it often does these days, from the operating room: The fastest growing cosmetic procedure in this country today is buttock augmentation. The number of procedures has increased fourfold since 2002, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
Fat Grafting is the method chosen by Dr. Beck for augmentation (enlarging) of the buttocks. You must have enough fat to harvest in areas such as the abdomen, flanks, hips, lower back or thighs. This excess will be removed with very gentle, low-vacuum liposuction using a special cannula (thin tube) to protect the living fat cells. The fat particles are purified, and then inserted into the layers of the buttocks thru a tiny incision, putting tiny droplets throughout the tissues so each fat cell will have a good blood supply.
Fat Grafting is one of the easiest ways to add fullness to almost any shape buttock to create the desired look. This procedure can add fullness to any part of the buttocks, or even the entire buttocks. To be a perfect candidate for this procedure, you must have enough extra fat available in other areas of the body to be removed and used in the grafting process.
After your surgery you will spend your first 2 nights at the Recovery Care Inn here in San Mateo. Dr. Beck will follow up with you every day to evaluate your progress. You will need to stay nearby for 2 weeks after your surgery. During this time, discomfort is mild, and easily relieved by medication. You may not sit or lay down on your “new” buttocks for at least 2 weeks. By the time you leave, you should be able to sit down (lightly!) on your new bottom. You can resume light work 16 days after your surgery and unlimited activity in three to four weeks.
